Kasia Wardawa
International Projects Coordinator
Kasia was born in Poland and arrived in Australia when she was 7. She is tertiary educated in Business and Project Management and has over 10 years experience in Administration. Previously working in the education sector as a project officer dealing with a diverse range of cultures, Kasia is in charge of Polish Citizenship Confirmations and Legalisation services. Her role can be extremely busy and challenging at times, requiring really amazing time management skills. Kasia's day starts at 8 am every morning, checking overnight developments in Poland, Ukraine, Israel, Germany and France, ranging from good news, such as confirmations of citizenship, to not so good news, such as further questions from the Voivodship Office. Kasia is in charge of several overseas based researchers, to whom she needs to issue clear instructions about various documents to be acquired from archives. She deals with up to 20 clients a day, answering their questions and guiding them through the process of confirming their citizenship. She is well known at the office for always staying calm and composed, with a great sense of humour and caring attitude.
"My job is very interesting and challenging. I love it! I am lucky enough to have the opportunity to meet a variety of different people from all around the world. I've probably learnt more in the last six months than in the past six years. My parents have always encouraged me to speak Polish at home and cultivated Polish traditions and culture. I never knew it would come in handy, where I could use this knowledge and skills at work. My job requires really good organisational skills and I have to be very methodical. And because for many clients going through the process of confirming their citizenship is quite a challenge, my role is also to support them before, after and during the lodgment of their applications. Often, the secondary outcome of the confirmation of Polish citizenship for our clients is learning about their families and their roots. As they learn about their grandparents' or parents' lives, they also learn to appreciate them more, in light of all that they have been trough. We teach our clients to be respectful of their ancestors pasts and treat it as the greatest gift. "
