 Polaron goes green

It's not easy being green. Many people feel so overwhelmed by the problems our planet is facing that they chose to, do nothing. But green office management is simple and easy, as long as you follow the four basic

principles - Reduce, Reuse, Replace and Recycle.

Did you know?

  • The, average, office, worker, goes, through, 10,000, sheets, of, paper, a, year.
  •  Artificial lighting accounts for 44% of electricity costs in office buildings.
  •  20 to 50 million metric tons of electronic waste are generated worldwide every year.
  •  Recycling one tone of paper saves 17 trees, 100 kilowatts of energy and 30 kg of air pollution.
  •  Recycling one aluminum can save enough electricity to power a TV for three hours.

At Polaron, we believe that even the smallest change can make a big difference. With this in mind, and with the help of our translators and office staff, we have put together some tips that are easy to put into practice and will save you money, too! Whether you've considered the impact your office has on the environment, or not, these, green tips will help you improve the greeness of your office.

I save toner by turning my printer to draft and using the print preview feature to proofread my translations. At this point, I run spell check. Other than that, I only print when I absolutely have to and reuse paper for scrap or double sided printing. I buy recycled paper and have a box for all my recycling, which then gets collected by council.
Natalia, Albanian translator.
I do my bit by supporting green companies. I buy everything - from food to major purchases like my car - from people who genuinly care about the environment. It doesn't really take a lot of effort, just a bit of research and intelligence, to make sure one doesn't contribute to the poor state of the planet by buying from people who don't care about having sustainable policies.
Billy, Chinese interpreter.
I am no Mr Green but I do care about the planet. I want my children to enjoy it, too, for years to come. In March, I reviewed our electricity bills. We saved over $300 in the last 8 months by changing my light bulbs and turning my printer and computer off when not in use. This is my contribution to a greener planet, and my family's budget.
Nick, Japanese interpreter.
