Confirmation of Polish citizenship
Before you can apply for your EU passport, you need to provide evidence of your Polish citizenship by documenting your Polish ancestry. If you are able to prove your heritage, then generally you are already a citizen of Poland but you must confirm it with the Polish authorities. You can establish your eligibility by contacting us directly on 1300 88 55 61 or via email to discuss your individual requirements. Polaron will assess your circumstances and compile an eligibility assessment, which includes:
- National Archives of Australia research and acquisition of folios
- Preliminary search for documents located in countries other than Australia (capped at 3 hours)
- Complete documentation assessment
- Initial consultation meeting
- Client file establishment
- Comprehensive report on your eligibility
Once your eligibility is confirmed, you will need to make a decision on whether you wish to proceed with your application for confirmation of Polish citizenship. If you do, a file containing documents proving your ancestry will be prepared in the Polish language and sent to Poland for assessment by the authorities. Most applications are processed within 12 months from the day of lodgment, though some do take longer.
Do you think that confirming your Polish citizenship is simply a matter of getting in touch with the Polish government? Think again! Confirmation of Polish citizenship can be challenging, frustrating and time consuming. While the general rule is that if you have Polish ancestors then you are a citizen of Poland, there could be lots of reasons why your citizenship may have been affected. You don't need to speak Polish to get your citizenship confirmed.
At Polaron, we don't accept any applications unless they have a very high likelihood of success. That is why we have spent 10 years compiling information that can tell you what your chance of confirming your Polish citizenship really are.
